GENERAL
All Studio Orange pieces are either solid 925 silver, or 14K gold. A very few ones are 925 silver gold plated with 14K gold. The thickness of the gold coating is responsible for its quality and durability:

All gold-plated Studio Orange pieces have a top layer of 2 Micron 14K gold, that makes the jewelry  longlasting and gives it a worthy look, without being as expensive as solid gold.

Nevertheless, it is important to take care of your jewelry. While your pieces are exposed to air, they will oxidize over time – meaning silver becomes darker, and gold will lose its shine. Oxidation is a normal process, but with the right care instructions, you can avoid it almost completely. After some time, cleaning of your piece is also a good idea, we will explain further below how this works.

WHAT TO AVOID
Please be aware of soaps, makeup, perfume, hairspray and hairdye. They can contain alcohol or chemicals that can damage any kind of jewelry or pearls. Best is, to put on your jewelry last before you leave the house.

Please take off your jewelry before showering, taking a bath, swimming or doing sports. Sweat, soaps and chlorinated water can react with the precious metals or pearls.

Best store your jewelry in a dry and dark place, only one piece at a time, to avoid damages by other jewelry pieces. Do not use leather storage, as this can tarnish gold and silver.

HOW TO CLEAN
If necessary, you can always clean your silver jewelry with warm water, salt, and a stripe of aluminumfoil. Of course you can also use a jewelry polishing cloth for both silver and gold.

Gold plated pieces are cleaned best only with lukewarm water, a mild soap and a soft cloth. Please make sure, not to use any alcohol for rubbing, as it can damage your surface.
